Ah, hello you dreamy lot. So I thought today, we would cover another very interesting way that the subconscious nighttime coding mirrors things to you and that is when we experience suffocation or the feeling of not being able to breathe in dreams. This is actually a two fold experience, so depending on how you experience the shortness of breath will depend on different factors.
You see, when you are awakening and taking back the control of your own life, your body and mind goes through a transformative process that can, at times, feel very taxing. We experience the same sort of ‘symptoms’ we would when climbing a mountain and are adjusting to the new altitude because the higher the vantage point, the purer the air. When you are used to a lungful of pollutants and things that aren’t necessarily good for the human vessel, give it something purer and out of habit, it reacts.
This is also the route cause of what we have come to know as ‘allergic reactions’. It’s the bodies defence mechanism alerting you to something that it doesn’t recognise. So when we experience tightness of chest in a dream or suffocation, it can be either one; you are swallowing down feelings to the point that it is destroying you from the inside and the dream is alerting you to the potential manifestation of an onset illness in that area if this is not dealt with in waking reality. If this is experienced as strangulation from another, it is because you are allowing someone else to literally control the air that you breathe. Or, if you simply feel short of breath it can actually be a way of the subconscious and astral realm relaying to you that you are adjusting to new frequencies that are much higher than what you were used to previously. By allowing this to unfold in the dreamstate, you don’t over-panic in waking life thinking there is something terribly wrong and allow the adjustment to happen much quicker and easier.
