Your soul is engineered to evolve and expand through the experience of contrast so it needs contrast in order to grow and master the tasks it has set itself and agreed to, on entry to earth! Through contrast, we gain meaning and we are able to then identify through the active human part of us, the part of us that has unlimited powers of creation and free will, what we will continue to engage in and support, and what we will no longer choose to participate in. This balance between the souls will and agreements and the humans will, is the very process of integration itself.
